Special Session on Computational Intelligence paradigms for Data mining and Knowledge discovery (CIDK 2016)

CALL FOR PAPERS

Please consider to contribute to and/or forward to the appropriate groups the following opportunity to submit and publish original scientific research papers to Special Session on Computational Intelligence paradigms for Data mining and Knowledge discovery (CIDK 2016) in ICRCICN 2016.

2016 Second IEEE International Conference on Research in Computational Intelligence and Communication Networks (ICRCICN 2016), September 23 - 25, 2016, Kolkata, West Bengal, India

Organized by Department of Information Technology, RCC Institute of Information Technology, Kolkata, India jointly with IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group, Kolkata Section, India

Aims and Scope

Mining and extracting useful information and subsequent knowledge discovery from the voluminous amount of data being generated in the e-world every moment is a multifaceted task. Conventional techniques are becoming ineffective for providing exact solutions to such large problems. Hence, there is a need for some intelligent techniques to generate at least approximate solutions to these real world complex problems.
Computational intelligence (CI) refers to a set of techniques or approaches that address the complex real-world problems to which traditional approaches are ineffective. These techniques are considered to be the key players in mining data streams, big data processing and analytics, patterns mining, designing decision support systems, etc. Rather than being competitive, all CI components such as fuzzy logic, rough sets, neural networks and genetic algorithms work in synergy with each other. These components aim to use learning, adaptive, or evolutionary computation to create reasoning and searching techniques that allow the use of domain knowledge and empirical data to solve complex problems.
The special session focuses on theory, novel techniques and application of computational intelligence (CI) paradigms for data mining and knowledge discovery. The session intends to provide a platform for progressive research minds to discuss ideas /solutions, algorithms, systems and applications in this recent domain of research.

Objectives

• To bring together the researchers across the globe in the area of computational intelligence, data mining and knowledge discovery through paper presentations, discussions and talks.
• To provide conceptual understanding of the the key constituents of computational intelligence techniques such as Fuzzy Logic, Rough sets, Evolutionary algorithms etc.
• To explore the computational intelligence methodologies for addressing real world complexities.
•To promote newer concepts developed through the fusion of computational intelligence techniques with data mining applications.
• To encourage application of computational intelligence techniques with data mining tools in disciplines such as education, governance, health etc.

Call for Papers

The session welcomes research papers having computational intelligent perspective of theories, algorithms, systems and applications with respect to data mining and knowledge discovery.
Topics of interests (but not limited to):
•Neural networks
•Rough sets
•Evolutionary algorithms
•Fuzzy sets
•Classification/ Clustering of data
•Feature learning and feature selection
